Due to the hard work by our Grants Officer Colleen, Maleny Arts and Crafts have successful recently with two grants.  With our first grant Maleny Arts and Crafts have been Proudly supported by the Sunshine Coast Council’s Grants Program. The grant received by MACG has enabled us to install a cupboard in which the Fine Artists and Life Drawing Group members are able to store their artist’s equipment. Our second grant was from the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation Community Benefit Fund. This enabled MACG to purchase a new glass kiln and a new pottery kiln. Our woodworkers also benefited with a new dust extraction system. New cupboards, chairs and stools were some of the other items.  Andrew Powell, state MP for Glasshouse attended the workshop to present the cheque,

Quilters Retreat

Image
Members of the Quilting Group recently had a few days away to indulge in sewing, bonding and socialising. Lots of quilts were started, and a few were finished including ones started at last year's retreat. The ladies stayed at the Alexandra Park Conference Centre in Alexandra Headland and were well looked after. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and morning and afternoon tea were provided. Some ladies took the three night option and some the two night option. The weather didn't play nice as it rained most of the time. But as we know when the weather is against you the best thing is to be creative.
