MACG 2016 Quilt Show Wrap Up.
The 2016 Maleny Arts and Crafts Group Quilt Show is over.
Look out for the next one in 2018. Lots of planning by our committee gave us a
very successful quilt show. The raffle sold well with the winner being a local
to Maleny and also a member of MACG.
There were over 500 visitors to the Quilt Show over the
weekend. The voting for Viewers Choice in the Quilts was close with only 11
votes separating number 1 and number 5. The top five were all different which
show the diversity of our visitors over the weekend.
Viewers’ choice:

The merchants, Howard Drapery, Patchwork Angel, House of
Shirbori, Maleny Magic Patchwork and Quilts and Bowerbirdy all had a great
weekend.
There were 118 quilts on display plus 19 challenge pieces
and an exhibit from the Textile Art Group.
The sales table had a great array of
items for sale. All pieces on the sales table were quilt related whether it was
a quilted item, a wooden spool holder or a glass pin dish made in a quilt
pattern.
The cafe was manned by a great bunch of ladies over the
weekend under the watchful eye of Jeanette. Cakes, slices and sandwiches were superb.
There were times over the weekend when there was not a spare seat available.
Our raffle winners were
1st prize Judy Caesar
2nd prize Andree Shamley (with Anita Turner, President of MACG)
3rd prize Sandra Faber

Thank you to all the members of MACG who gave up their time over the weekend to help with setting up and dismantling, the kitchen, selling tickets and walking the floor. Thank you to all the spouses who came and helped with the setting up and dismantling, and the spouses who helped collating the entries. Your help was much appreciated.
Our next
event is our annual Christmas Fair which will be held in the Maleny Community
Centre on 25th, 26th and 27th November 2016. A
great place to get all your Christmas presents.
