JUNE 2018 VOL. 5 MACG NEWS Winter Edition Newsletter President's Report: By Anita The 2018 Maleny Agricultural Show is over. As part of the Agricultural Show celebrations Maleny has a Window Dressing Competition. Congratulations to Priscilla and Heather who, for the third year running won this competition. It takes many months of planning and making items to achieve this outcome. Again, Congratulations. As to be expected a number of our talented members received prizes for work they had entered in to the various sections. It is not uncommon to hear a member saying, “I did not think my work was good enough to enter.” Sometimes, “But I am just a beginner.” Often another member had persuaded them to enter, and they, to their surprise had won a prize. The setup of the front room of the workshop looked attractive and it is to Jenny and Robyn, along with their helpers who achieved this along with those who manned the “Cash and Wrap” table. Thanks must go to these members becaus...

MAY 2018 VOL. 4 MACG NEWS Autumn Edition Newsletter President's Report: By Anita The first MACG Fair for the year is over, along with the Wood Expo. Although we do not know all the details yet, as we are still to receive some invoices for all the expenses incurred in holding the Fair and the Woodcrafters participation in the Wood Expo, we will be making a profit. The first two days of the fair seemed to be very slow and it was not until the third day that sales appeared to pick up. However, it turns out that the second day was the best day for sales. Unfortunately the weather was too warm for the sale of many winter items but it may be that, with the arrival of the colder days and nights, these and other items may be sold in the Gallery. Thanks to Colleen’s grant we were able to purchase some folding tables and with the addition of the tables from the Community Centre we had sufficient and did not have to borrow some from at least two other community groups in town. We wi...

APRIL 2018 VOL. 3 MACG NEWS Autumn Edition Newsletter President's Report: By Anita It has barely been a month since the new MACG Management Committee was elected. As usual, all new committee members have been busy learning about their roles and responsibilities. We are fortunate that so many of our committee members choose to stay on in their position as this makes it easier for all to work together to the benefit of MACG. The Autumn Fair is rapidly approaching and the next Fair Committee meeting will be next Monday afternoon. The Wood Expo is held at the same time, and our Woodcrafters, as usual, will be in the Workshop for its duration. We all look forward to seeing the new and exciting items that will be offered for sale. Please assist where possible as it lightens the load for those who are heavily involved with the administration and rosters. The Gallery will be open as usual. Changes have taken place in two of the storerooms at the workshop, in that we have instal...

MARCH 2018 VOL. 2 MACG NEWS Autumn Edition Newsletter PAST PRESIDENT'S REPORT by Peter Leary This is my last report as President. This month a new committee will be elected and I would like to thank all members of the outgoing committee for their support during my term of office. I must acknowledge Heather and Cilla for their ongoing gallery work and always making the gallery attractive. Thanks must also go Anita for her invaluable knowledge of MACG, Pat for her secretarial duties, Sue and Jean for the treasurer’s duties, Judy for recording the minutes, and Claire for taking on the role of Fair Organizer. The group’s coordinators and other members of the Management Committee who come to the monthly meetings play an essential part in the running of MACG. During the past twelve months we have been fortunate to obtain two grants. It is thanks to Colleen, who tirelessly works for every member, that we have received those grants. Every member has benefited as it allows us to mak...

FEB 2018 VOL. 1 MACG NEWS Summer Edition Newsletter PRESIDENT'S REPORT by Peter Welcome to 2018, a New Year. Last year, 2017, was a year when a number of our groups obtained much needed equipment. The artists received their long awaited for panels, the woodcrafters additional tools, and the Quilters an up to date quilting machine. The Gallery made a small profit, and many thanks must go to Heather and Cilla and any member who did extra shifts, especially over the Christmas and New Year period. This made a difference, both to the volume of sales and the overall takings for December, which exceeded those of last year. The Aussie Day Expo went very well with the weather being kind and giving us a fine sunny and warm day, not the showers as were predicted. There was a lot of interest shown by members of the public towards our various demonstrations with many questions being asked of our demonstrators. Thanks to those MACG members who attended and assisted with the demons...

Presidents Report: The end of the year is rapidly approaching and the final MACG activity was the Christmas Fair. As always a great deal of work went into organising and presenting the Fair. A big thank you to all the various groups, and individuals, who participated in the Fair. The Christmas Fair was successful due to the volunteers who set up the Community Hall on the Wednesday, the members who presented such wonderful items for display and sale, and those who rostered themselves on the Cash and Wrap desk, the Kitchen Workers, the Treasury team, the Floor Walkers, the Raffle Ticket Sellers, Juliana who handled the advertising, and the partners of our members who willingly helped when required. We must also thank the Lions Club members who willingly transport our bits and pieces to and from the Community Centre. Most definitely a large thank you to Claire who organised the Fair so efficiently.  As time rolls on and with our longer term members not getting a...

President's Report: In October we had our second, and final Fair meeting before the event. There will be certain protocols in place to ensure the smooth running of the Fair. Please see Claire’s report for the Christmas Fair for all details. The Maleny State High School had their awards night on the 24th October. Priscilla and I attended the event on behalf of MACG. There were many proud parents and guests in attendance and the evening was a credit to all involved in this event. The student who won the MACG Award to the Arts was Lily Whitaker. All the students who were awarded prizes are a credit to this community. ~ Peter Leary Christmas Fair: Wednesday 22nd till Sunday 26th November 2017 Firstly, I want to thank the very active members who represented each of the interest groups in the planning and implementation for this Fair. The following is a list of final requests and reminders before the Fair commences - 1. Hopefully all table bookings have been made with eith...
